TOP: Rosie Assoulin // PANTS: Acne Studios // SHOES: Jimmy Choo // BAG: Antik Batik // NECKLACE: Lanvin //
EARRINGS: Lynn Ban // SUNGLASSES: Celine

All I can say is… WOW!

The pops of colour coming through at the moment are absolutely breath-taking and all I want to do (yes, can y0u believe it!?) is add these stunning pops of colour to my usual all-black outfits.

The SS17 trend that I cannot get enough of is this real tribal feel and mixing it with softer tones allows for a nice paired back look that is classy and elegant – not in your face.

I just need this top, and these pants, and this necklace, and this bag, and these shoes… And ahh… Everything!!

What’s your thought on this tribal trend coming through? Do you need a particular piece or do you need the whole outfit like me?

We’re like the Men in Black except clearly male and female and totally cooler than Will Smith & Tommy Lee Jones… Haha we wish!

But on a serious note, black is “100%” cool, as clearly quoted by Sam. You know that tagline thing that everyone has? Mine is “yeah right” or “yeah really”, which since noticing, makes me seem less interested in conversation than I actually am – I promise to all who notice it out now that I am not shrugging you off!

Okay, but seriously, let’s get more onto topic. The way we perceive things every day has a lot to do with our beliefs growing up and the traditionalist views that our parents or education have instilled into us over the years. The colour black is associated with power, elegance, formality, death, evil, and mystery but there was a time, maybe 10 years ago, when we thought that people who wear all black were “emo” or “punk”.  We all had our mind shaped to fear being emo or punk as we were brought up with numerous negative connotations surrounding it. We would go through primary & secondary education with this idea that wearing black was not a normal thing. However, trends come and go and there was a time when we were 14  and thought that people who wore all black were scary and odd, but then we grew up a little and we noticed that black is the colour of Melbourne and it defines us. As I became so immersed in the fashion world, I fell victim to this “all black plague” and fell into the black hole – I was sold.

As time goes on, we won’t let this colour define us in a negative way like the world once used to, however we can recognise the power that this colour has in our culture today. Some think of it as dull, some think of it as elegance & some honestly just don’t care whether they are cool or not. For us, it’s whatever comes naturally, we won’t fall into Melbourne’s scene of ‘all black everyday’ as we like to explore our style both individually and in collaborations together. Just like here, we chose to recognise pieces that we loved so much in a ‘blogger blackout’ kinda way! We absolutely love our outfits here. I live in my little top and short combo all the time and Sam can’t help but wear this ensemble on a night out!

All I can say is stay peachy and stay YOU. Do not follow the scene just because it’s the way to fit in. When you are YOU, you shine greater than anyone who’s trying to fit in. Your presence is so strong when you start to focus on your own happiness and everything will just fall into place around you. Wear black because it’s you, not just because it’s the cool Melbourne thing to do.

WHEN I REALISED I WAS BORN TO CREATE

PLAYSUIT: Shilla The Label // SHOES: Skin – coming soon

Sometimes all you need is a playsuit and some heels. I talked the other day about how my wardrobe is a range of black, white, grey & a hint of blue… but, somehow, wine has crept into my wardrobe the past few weeks and I have a few cute, little playsuits that act as statement pieces for the day!

I love dressing up for work everyday and I have found that these v-neck playsuits are maybe a little bit too risky but I don’t even care because #farshuuun

I am totally obsessed with dressing up everyday and have started to care less and less every year about what other people think. I think it’s so important to be you, whether that be with your personality or your style. For me, my styles reflects my personality and I always have those moments in the mornings where I ask myself “who do I want to be today?”
Each day, I answer with “I want to be happy, successful and me.”
It’s so simple but we forget how important it is to appreciate ourselves and think about our own happiness.  You are the source of your happiness and you must realise that every external factor around you comes from within. Since only learning recently that my creative side comes so naturally, whether that be design or my styling has had such a large impact on my everyday and how I approach everything. I chose to focus on the things in life that are truly me and here I am today as a footwear designer, social media manager, blogger and I get to be creative every single day – I am not complaining.

Little things like V-necks make me happy at the moment so I opt for them in the morning or playsuits because I know that I’ll be comfortable all day.

What matters to you?

Stay peachy everyone!

WISHLIST WEDNESDAY: SOFT TONES AND TEXTURES

Screen Shot 2016-01-24 at 11.40.13 AM

TOP: Acne Studios // SKIRT: Alexander McQueen // SHOES: Alaia // BAG: Chloe // SUNGLASSES: Chloe // WATCH: Larsson & Jennings

Wishlist Wednesday is back as I noticed how much I am always wanting to create a list of the things that I love.

I’m loving the soft pastels, warm tans and variety of textures at the moment and combined them into this cute Spring/Summer look. Although not totally useful in the Northern Hemisphere considering how cold it is at the moment. Soft pastels, warm tans, plaid detail & tassels are hanging around for the next Spring/Summer season so it’s time to start planning the Summer wardrobe early!

I love these Alaia heels and wish I had the money lying around to get them now… One day!

What’s your favourite piece?

COURT: TOP: Country Road // JEANS: Nobody Denim // SHOES: Nike // BAG: Sportsgirl

SAM: TOP: A S Colour // JEANS: Dejour Jeans // SHOES: Nike

There’s no doubt that a grey tee, jeans and sneakers are a go-to for a few of us. For Sam and myself, we certainly can’t help the caj look and the grey tee.

Our wardrobes consist of black, white, grey & a hint of blue because they go with everything and it’s so easy to make a statement with these shades. Personally, I live in black & white because I feel as though colour doesn’t depict who I am. I’m not saying I’m not a bright person, but I see my style in a different way. I also work in footwear so I spend most of my week in heels. There’s nothing better than spending the weekend in sneakers, ripped jeans and not having to worry about outfits that are uncomfortable or when I can take my shoes off when I get home!

Are you a sneaker kind of person? What’s your go-to sneaker?

MONDAY SPOTLIGHT: PILLAR OF SALT

pillar of salt

The one Melbourne cafe that I actually can happily recommend to anyone whether they be locals or internationals with some of the great coffee on earth!

The pancakes are better than the Top Paddock hotcake in the not-so-overly powering way and you can easily finish the whole meal which is something my tummy is very thankful for. The staff are also very beautiful and incredibly accommodating for larger groups, also if you are like me and prefer an iced mocha on a hot day… They will somehow help you out with the non-existent menu item hehe.

The American Style butter pancakes and the Smashed Avo are so on point that I’ll probably be back there next week for more…

C/MEO COLLECTIVE: THE SILK TOP FOR ANY AGE

TOP: C/MEO Collective from The Birdcage Boutique // PANTS: Sportsgirl // WATCH: Christian Paul // BAG: Kashif London

This is the top to cater all ages and I love it just as much as my mum does. This stunning silk top features and the ability to show a little tummy. Obviously my mother would not bring the two pieces apart on purpose like I have above but I like to do this to show some skin with the wide leg pants.

I felt like these two were a match made in heaven and knew they’d have to come together for you guys… And just FYI because if you’re like me and need everything in black. This top also comes in black – wahoo!

What are your thoughts on the grey and white combo?

PS. Totally obsessed with the luxe jewels on this watch and this leather bag from London – amaze!!!

With Love,
