PLAYSUIT: Shilla The Label // SHOES: Nude Footwear – dropping in May // BAG: Urge

Finding a party outfit for Autumn is, well, impossible! There is no way to party in style without a coat to get you from A to B. However, for a look that won’t make you freeze from head to toe, over the knee boots are going to be my go-to for this Winter season.

There’s never been a time where florals have followed me from the Spring/Summer season to the Autumn/Winter season but Shilla the Label have nailed the dark floral print and I kinda/really want to now wear this outfit out this weekend for a few drinks… Who’s with me?

Pairing dark florals with must-have OTK boots is on the top of my list for the next few months!

What are your thoughts on dark florals and OTK boots?

AUTUMN/WINTER NECESSITY: BLACK & DENIM

Can you believe it’s that time of year already? As most of you are leaving the winter season, I’m heading full steam ahead towards the cold season, layers and the need for warmth. Whilst the sun is still slightly here, I’m going to make the most of being able to wrap my denim jacket around my waist rather than on my shoulders and enjoy this autumn weather.

It’s certainly starting to cool down here in Melbourne and as Winter approaches, my wardrobe becomes a little moody. I say a temporary farewell to most of my colourful and light items and say hello to everything blue, grey & black.

Even though I hate the cold, I’m a little excited to share some upcoming outfits showing a few of my favourite trends this AW season. As always, black remains a trend of mine that will never fade away. Black and I are forever – we will never split (sorry!!)

At the moment, I’m having a little fling with denim & I can’t help but feature it some way in an outfit everyday. For this outfit, I felt the jacket around the waist was completely necessary as it helps to break up the all-black-errythang look!

What are your thoughts on denim lately?

Stay peachy, stay you and just wear the clothes that make you feel happy.

A LESSON I TEACH MYSELF EVERYDAY

Screen Shot 2016-03-29 at 11.47.29 AM

It’s taken me a while to find the right thing to write about. The last time I wrote to you guys I was on a world trip that I didn’t even think was real and without me realising and without me expecting it, I went on a journey that was honestly one of the hardest, mentally and physically, to date – one that made me come back a completely different person. I try to keep telling myself this is how it is but it seems like a rubber band theory where we cannot help to bounce back to our old ways.

I was one who needed a break to once again assess what was really going on in life. I was one who was so busy with work that my personal and blog life took such a back seat that I, unfortunately, was well aware of. For these four weeks, work became my priority, I was on a mission and I was going to put my heart and soul into it. I gave it my all.

However, here I am today, pretty damn tired and trying to stay awake when I drive the car home. I went overseas so excited to share with you every single location I went to and the reality was – I was too tired to do it. My lack of energy led to a lack of motivation thus emptiness in the place I love the most – here.

It’s crazy how these places become a part of you and as I write this now, I shed a few tears, as I didn’t realise how key this place was to my happiness and being the whole me. I am well aware of my life, and I am so glad that I decided to be aware of the things I was missing the most. We all go through times where we seem to hide a little, see friends less, maybe talk to the family a little less by putting our focus into something else. I did that. I put my focus into work. Work made me happy and I was reaping the rewards – it still does to this day. I bloody love my job. However, I knew once my summer range was completed, I would put my focus back into me. And this is me, here, now, completely focused on my happiness and well-being and staying peachy.

Sometimes we forget that just a little bit of something is all we need. I know they say that to get a reward you must give it your all. But, physically & mentally, you cannot give everything your all. There’s always going to be some part of your life that will miss out. We always give it our all. All or nothing seems to be a trait that some of us cannot help but for me, this shows inconsistency as you will have to stop giving your all at some point. You cannot give all because at some point you are going to run out of it. Just like a relationship, give it all at the start and then when the flame goes there’s nothing. Give all your energy to work and you’ll find yourself burn out. Give all your energy to an exercise routine for a few weeks by going hard every single day and you will see yourself burn out once again. Another analogy shows a diagram with work, social and health – saying how you can only pick two. All I can say is stop reading this stuff and believing it!!! You are the key to your life. Your brain has endless abilities and one of them is to change the way you are. Your mind is incredibly powerful and you can change a belief easier than you think. You have to believe that you can have everything. For me, I know I can, I’ve done it before. I was just very aware that I went into a short period that was dedicated to just one sector and I gave myself a goal to get out of it and address every little thing missing.

It’s called balance and day by day, I am learning how to create balance in my life. I am happy that I know this is the problem. The key to problems is being aware of them and knowing how to address them. With everything I have learnt the past year, I have learnt how to be aware of everything around me and how to address a problem. For me, I’m going to give a little bit of me to every aspect of my life. Because that’s better than nothing. They always say that if you cannot work out or get to a gym just do 30 minutes of exercise at home or go for a short walk. Make sure you plan your week. Have a day for you, a day for exercise, a day to be social with friends, a day with the family, a day to do whatever you want. Don’t get caught up in sticking to the routine but recognise every aspect that you want to have in your life. In the words of Bob Proctor – “Thoughts become things. If you see it in your mind, you will hold it in your hand”. The more you think about it being your life, it will come true without you even realising. Put yourself first and think about what you really want. For me – that is the key to success, the key to happiness & the key to wealth.

Please remember to stay you and stay peachy always.

TOP: Cotton On // JEANS: Cotton On – coming soon // COAT: Cmeo Collective // SHOES: Topshop // BAG: Sportsgirl

With travelling comes plenty of new purchases and I couldn’t help but share this outfit from the other day.

All black with a hint of grey kills it every time and I’m obsessed with every piece in this outfit so I’ll start from the top.

Okay – so maybe I lied just a little but I picked up this coat as soon as I was back from overseas. I looked everywhere for a coat and of course I found the perfect one as soon as I got home. I picked this one up from Cmeo Collective at Glue Store in Emporium – absolute killer of a purchase!!

Secondly, the basic v and drop crotch denim from Cotton On are so on point that I just feel so casually cool. These new drop crotches are coming out this month in both worn black & mid blue – I’ll have both thanks!

Lastly, boots… Yep. These bone heels are sick and I have lived in them everyday since returning from overseas. Luckily they are in Topshop Emporium so you can get winter ready with these babies. Stretch leather, square toes and covered heels are trending massively at the moment so if you are one to be trend savvy or just love the style like I do – get on board!

I just can’t get enough of this outfit so if you run into me wearing this outfit twice in a week, please don’t say anything… haha!!

Stay peachy everyone!

THE EVERYDAY LOOK THAT SCREAMS COMFORT

Processed with VSCOcam with n1 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with n1 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with n1 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with n1 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with n1 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with n1 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with n1 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with n1 preset

BRALETTE: Cotton On // TSHIRT: Cotton On // JEANS: Cotton On // SHOES: Hush Puppies

It’s always so hard to find jeans and shoes that are so comfy that you can actually chill out all day in them. If I’m honest, I’m actually wearing these jeans as I write this on the plane now. If you want comfy jeans, then these are the ones for you. I have just slept 8 hours in them and have not felt restricted at all – they are so comfy!!!

Also, who thought Hush Puppies were cool? I’ve always thought of these guys as the mum brand that I knew was super comfy but these guys have picked things up a little and added some fashion elements into their range. There is a gorgeous selection of sandals, espadrilles & flats for everyday so I decided to get these perforated flats for the summer. They come in both black & white – switching the colour of the outsole with the upper.

I always try to talk about comfort because it seems like our generation these days accepts that fashion is pain and we can never be comfortable. As I work in shoes and see how shoes fit everyday, I know straight away when shoes don’t fit on someone. It’s as though our generation today don’t understand that a shoe should fit your foot well. There are obviously going to be cases where your foot is different and it’s not going to fit perfectly, but there are many cases where I look at the details and think how?? My foot is a 37 width and this is fitting like a 39 with so much room to move – all seems crazy to me!
*This is just a general comment by the way, not in relation to these shoes!*

With these honeys, I would’ve gone down half a size as they are a little too long/wide but with a pair of invisible socks, all my worries are saved :)

Anywho, fashion & comfort are possible to have together – believe me!

WHEN WITCHY VIBES SOMEHOW END UP COOL

BRALETTE: Cotton On // SHIRT: The Fifth Label // SKIRT: The Fifth Label // SHOES: Skin Shoes – dropping in a few weeks!

I didn’t intend to look witchy with this outfit as it’s so wicked but I feel like I could certainly use this skirt for a dress-up party and nail the wicked witch of the west look.. haha!!

Anyway, I wanted to share these two together as I really struggle with stripes sometimes and I couldn’t believe that I found a striped oversized shirt that I actually liked. Finding the right oversized look is always a struggle so it’s important to pair an oversized shirt with something very slimming on the bottom whether that be a pair of skinny jeans or a slimming skirt like the one above. This shirt is great worn open with a little bralette and skirt, or buttoned up with skinny jeans and a cap to get the baseball look.

What are your thoughts on the oversized look?

IT’S TRUE, 90S VIBES ARE BACK + TIPS ON HOW TO WASH YOUR DENIM

JUMPER: Witchery – in stores! // JACKET: Cotton On // JEANS: Cotton On // SHOES: Jo Mercer

It’s true… the 90s are back and even though I was only around for 6 years of the nineties, I can definitely relate to little toddler Courtney being dressed up in the coolest denim in the world.

Denim is something that we can’t go a day without – well, I can’t and so when Cotton On decided to launch their 91 Denim campaign, I was stoked. I have got a few posts to show the denim that I picked up from this range and had to start here with these show stoppers. These jeans are SICK! The boyfriend look + awesome American patches are just ticking all my boxes and I am a little obsessed. Everyone I have shown these to has just asked “are these available? Like, can I get these now??”

Guess what? You certainly can!

To top it off, they fulfilled my denim jacket dreams and I have finally found a denim jacket that fits just how I want it to. It’s like I entered denim heaven on the weekend and now I am satisfied for a while.

Always wondered how to wash your denim?

Well, I asked the experts at Cotton On last Saturday and although I knew both techniques. I definitely know I need to give the latter a go!

Firstly, it’s simple, put your jeans inside out, cold hand wash with mild detergent and then let t hem dry out in the shade. Do not put them in the sun (especially if they are black) as they will fade dramatically.

Secondly, yes I know – crazy. Put your jeans in the freezer. Putting your jeans in the freezer has said to be one of the best ways to clean your jeans without them losing their shape or colour. The freezer helps to kill all the bacteria in your jeans just like when you wash them. The most important thing is once they have been in the freezer overnight, is to let them thaw outside in the shade as you would let anything dry. Don’t try to play with your frozen jeans as they will be very stiff and who knows what could happen!!

I have always complained about my black jeans fading dramatically and either going green, grey or purple. Like seriously, I bought you to be black – please stay black. Anyway, as soon as I am back from this whirlwind adventure overseas, I am going to try this freezer thing and come back to you with my results!

What’s your go-to denim style? Are you a denim fan?

HOW DID I END UP HERE?

image1

It’s so funny how we are brought up in a way that makes us impossible to reach our dreams. Or, perhaps a way that saw me doing this job maybe at the age of 25 if I was lucky, not 21.

Here I am, in London as we speak and travelling around the world on a buying trip. I have my own brand and the opportunity to let my creative side be free. Everything is possible and this is something I never thought was possible for my age. However, with the opportunities I have gained lately as well as working pretty damn hard to get everything done – I have found myself here.

I am so stoked that I can officially say I am now a fashion designer. At 21? Yes. I’m serious!

The past year has been a whirlwind and I have had some pretty awesome opportunities come my way and I only have one person to thank. A good friend of mine started his own travel blog, studied a personal development course and absolutely changed my way of thinking. He became a mentor to me and helped me change my mood swings, my negative thinking and my negative network. I know that this had everything to do with me and making the change but had he not planted the seed in my mind – I would not be here. He taught me I can have anything I want. I want to show all of you how you can too.

I unlocked a part of my mind that would make anything possible and I started planning my own life day by day. It all started here:

IMG_4143

I wanted independence. I wanted to shine and I didn’t want my emotions to get caught up on the guy I was seeing or how lonely I was. I was so distracted by the male kind and just wanted someone to be around to help me grow. Then I realised, I needed to grow myself. I needed to be me before I could be with anyone and I needed to learn how to be independent and not depend on someone to make me happy. I, to this day, and for the last 8-10 weeks have felt wholly content and I would not change this feeling for the world. I am happy, I have the most wicked job, I have an amazing circle of friends, an incredible family and I guess everyone would say there’s just that one thing missing. Maybe, but I don’t think I’m ready for it yet. I want to embrace this and find someone who is the same. All that will come in due time, whenever I’m ready. I could already know the person or be yet to meet them. The main thing is I’m so happy right now that it doesn’t even bother me.

STEPPING BACKSTAGE WITH A LOCAL AUSSIE LABEL THAT KILLS IT

DRESS: Backstage The Label // SHOES: Skin Shoes – dropping in a few weeks!

First in my brand spotlight is Backstage the Label. Backstage are creating contemporary pieces that stand out from the crowd in the most minimalist way possible.

Backstage is an Australian based label that prides itself on the ethical environment it is made in. Backstage are inspired by their love of art, film & music & have an enigmatic aesthetic in its collections with sleek lines, bold prints, textured fabrics and elegant shapes with an edginess and sensuality that captures a fresh spirit found behind the scene or centre stage.

For those who know me, you know minimalism is my thing. And for all of you, I’m pretty sure you’ve figured that out by now. This dress is minimalism at it’s finest and I love that it’s a relaxed fit and not restricting.

There’s something about fine straps, open backs and deep v-necks that are consuming me and I am constantly looking for pieces that fit these criteria.

Especially with those of you in the northern hemisphere going into the Spring/Summer season – are you loving open backs and thin straps? It’s clear that us in Australia do!

With Love,

Court x
